Call for Volunteers

I would like to announce the availability of grants for student volunteers.

If you want to

 * help with registration,
 * guide participants to lunch and banquet,
 * help speakers use the technical equipment, or
 * help recording videos of the talks

you can get free admission to ICFP 2011 and/or co-located workshops (all events on which you help). We will try to distribute the necessary work such that volunteers can attend talks besides helping with organization. Travel and accommodation expenses cannot be supported.

If you are interested in helping, please send me an email including

 * your contact details,
 * the days on which you are available, and
 * your favorite events (workshops and/or main conference).

学生ボランティアとしてご協力頂ける方々に対する参加費の援助のお知らせです。
ICFP 2011実行委員会では、

* 参加登録
* 昼食およびバンケット会場の案内
* 登壇者の機器操作
* 講演の録画

等の会議運営をお手伝い頂く学生の方に参加費を援助致します。本会議かワークショップかにかかわらずお手伝い頂いたイベントの参加が無料になります。運営の仕事の合間に講演の聴講も可能なように、分担には配慮する予定です。旅費や宿泊費の援助はありません。

Power supply and WiFi in the conference halls

I have discussed with general-co-chair and decided to provide sockets for 40%
of participants. For example, in ICFP main conference hall, 100 out of
250 participants will be provided with 100 sockets, each with capacity of
100V 1A, taking margin into account (for smaller laptop, or with less CPU workload,
current is less than 1A). We wish we could provide 1A for everyone, but 100A
in the main conference hall is the safe upper-bound (with capacity increase constructions) of the building, not by the power savings due to the earthquake.
We are going to provide WiFi connections in the conference rooms.

I would like to start my posts to express my gratitude to all
(individuals or groups or governments or whatever entities) for their
warm-hearted supports regarding to the earthquake.
We feel very encouraged and I am making efforts to make
the ICFP11 events a success.

This is a blog for ICFP 2011 local information.
We will send everyday information from Tokyo.
This is for everyone who are interested in ICFP 2011;

The conference venue is here, next to NII, in Jimbo-cho town in center area of Tokyo.
Good access, good cafe, and good old-book shops.
Jimbo-cho has mixed atmospheres of old downtown, students' quarter, and business district.
Conference lunch will be served in Univ. Alumni Assoc. Hall well-known as Gakushi-kaikan.
